Тема уроку. Television. Pros and Cons

Цілі: Формувати навички вживання нових лексичних одиниць; удосконалювати техніку читання, навички діалогічного монологічного мовлення, пізнавальний інтерес до вивчення англійської мови. Робота в групах щодо вирішення проблемного питання.

Розвивати культуру читання, слухову та короткотривалу пам’ять, слуховий контроль: розвивати уяву, вміння логічно, послідовно викладати думки іноземною мовою. Розширювати картину світу учня знаннями про історію виникнення, роботу та розвиток телебачення. Виховувати усвідомлення необхідності пізнання нового, старанність у навчанні, чіткість у виконанні завдань.



Обладнання: Підручник Unit 2 Lesson 9, робочі зошити для учнів, засоби для створення та перегляду презентацій, картки з назвами команд, цитати відомих людей про телебачення.

  1. Організація класу. Привітання.

T. Good morning, everybody! I’m glad to see you . Let me introduce myself. My name is Alexander and I am going to be your teacher for today’s lesson. Today we shall speak about television, about your favourite TV programs and about pros and cons of TV watching. And first of all I want to make acquaintance with you. Can you give me some information about yourself? Let’ make it the following way:

T – Today I want you to meet Bill, a boy from Canada, he will tell us about his favourite TV program. So open your workbooks, find exercise 3 there and read the text. Be ready to do true-false test.
My Favourite Television Programme

Hello! My name is Bill. I am fifteen years old. I am from Toronto, Canada. I live with Mum, Dad and my younger sister Kathy. All of us like watching TV, but our tastes and views are quite opposite. My Dad prefers the latest news and documentary programmes. He usually watches TV in the evening after his working day. Sometimes he likes to listen to the news in the morning while having breakfast. When he is in a hurry in the morning, he listens to the radio news in the car driving to work. As for my mother, she enjoys watching the "Travel Channel" because she is crazy about travelling abroad. She finds this information very useful and even educational.

My six-year-old sister Kathy likes watching cartoons and documentary programmes about animals. Kathy loves animals greatly. If to speak about my television tastes, I can say that I regularly watch sports channels, because I play hockey and go swimming. When I've got free time I watch different sports competitions on TV. I also enjoy watching films about animals. I'd like to tell you about the film "Free Willy" I last watched.

This film, directed by Simon Wincer, is a fascinating and moving adventure. It is set on the west coast of North America. The film is about the relationship between a boy and a whale, called Willy.

Jesse first meets Willy in the sea park where the whale is kept. They become good friends as they have both been separated from their families. As the story develops, Jesse becomes so fond of Willy that he decides to try and free him.

The film is filled with suspense and emotion. The scenes involving Jesse and Willy teach us how close animals and human beings can be to each other. This is a wonderful film for the whole family.

The last film which Bill watched is about a whale.

Bill recommends only children to watch this film.

T – I have got some cards for you. Take them, please. As you see we’ve got the names of two popular TV Channels here: Discovery and CNN. Let’s make two groups one speaking for television (let it be CNN) and another (let it be Discovery) – against.

T – Work in groups. Discuss the positive and negative features of television. And let’s make a presentation.
Учні обговорюють переваги та недоліки телебачення згідно до завдання команди. Потім один із учасників виходить до дошки і презентує проект своєї команди.
